On the first evening the wagon was wheeled to the edge of the fair. Eight blank cards were sketched in silverpoint upon the parchment, the Gypsy's voice was rendered in sixteen lines, twenty-eight parables were written down, and the prototype was set down whole — a single page that opened to the candlelight.
Once the wagon stood, the cards needed to be touched. A small chamber was carved within for the seeker who wished only to browse the deck — a /cards door, accessible without entering the ceremony. Twenty-eight parable scenes were given to the Gypsy's voice, so that each dilemma might be spoken aloud as it appeared. The deck-browser opened from a small pill at the end of every reading.
The /cards door, on first opening, led nowhere — a routing tangle between the page and the folder of card-images, which shared the same name. A signpost was placed: shim an index inside the cards directory, simplify the _redirects, and the door swung wide. The wandering pilgrim arrived where they meant to.
What had been two screens at the end of a reading — a permalink panel and a separate deck-browser — were joined into one. The chosen virtue's card now opens in the deck-browser itself, with its companions arrayed beneath, the permalink lettered in the footer, and a new section painted at the bottom of every card: four short suggestions for cultivating that virtue, in the same archaic register as the Gypsy's voice.
Two stones lay across the road. First: the deck-browser at /cards/ rendered every word but no images, because its assets resolved against the wrong path — all URLs were rewritten absolute. Second: the casting did not auto-advance from its final reveal, because the reveal layer covered the dialogue panel and hid the only button. The gear was untangled; the ceremony walks itself to the end now.
Upon final viewing, the thumbnail strip sat atop the cultivation list, hiding the last two bullets. The bottom margin of the deck-browser was widened to give the strip its own air. A small skip-ahead link was added beneath the Enter the Wagon button on the intro screen, for those who came only for the deck.
Finally the README was brought current — both ways in, the deck-browser, the cultivation suggestions, the new audio paths, the deploy shim. A fan-tribute license note was added at the bottom, naming what is mine and what belongs to the older makers. The signboard was hung, the wax seal pressed.
